To support the examination and treatment of patients and customers, our professionals in sterile processing maintain instruments that are maintained in accordance with laws, standards, regulations and service instructions. Our sterile processing operations are performed either at our central reprocessing centre or customer units, if these have the appropriate equipment. The sterile processing process includes

Approximately 80 Servica employees work in sterile processing services. Our sterile processing departments operate in the sterile processing centres of KYS, Varkaus and Iisalmi hospitals as well as in KYS’s customer units, such as surgical and intensive care units, outpatient clinics and endoscopy units. We also serve in the area of North Savo wellbeing services county in Tervo, Vesanto, Suonenjoki, Pielavesi, Leppävirta and Lapinlahti.

Centralised sterile processing

Our centralised sterile processing centre is located at KYS’s Kaari Hospital. The centre operates at all times of the day, every day of the year. In addition, the Varkaus and Iisalmi units operate on weekdays. We use production control system for the maintenance and monitoring of instruments.

Sterile processing services

The objective of sterile processing services is to ensure the availability of clean, disinfected and sterile products. We also maintain equipment in customer units or departments, where the work of a sterile processor also includes cleaning, disinfecting and reconditioning machines and equipment. In addition, depending on the unit, the work can also include placing orders, unpacking and placing products on shelves and sending and servicing machines and equipment for scheduled maintenance.
