Servica and the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Servica and the UN Sustainable Development Goals

The UN Global Compact’s Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 define a holistic approach to sustainable development and global economic, social and environmental challenges. The mission is to ensure a more sustainable future for all of us.

Achieving the 17 UN-approved goals requires ambitious action and cooperation from the UN member states – as well as the commitment of companies and other organisations to the goals. Servica contributes to several of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals in its business activities, where we have identified the goals and sub-goals on which we have the greatest impact and which are most related to our activities.

The UN Sustainable Development Goals that are most relevant to Servica:

Servica’s services ensure the functioning of key parts of society, such as hospitals and health
centres, and thus support the well-being of our society. Our centralised
patient transport services serve all departments at Puijo Hospital, contributing to the accessibility of
safe and high-quality healthcare services. Servica’s
central warehousing services for medical supplies, food services for hospitals, health centres and nursing
homes, and sterile processing services promote physical health. Our various locations
prepare thousands of meals every day in the North Savo region, each of which is designed to
meet the nutritional needs of each age and customer group.

Servica’s sustainably produced services increase well-being in North Savo, and taking responsibility for
people and society around us is part of everything we do. In addition to the well-being that our services provide, we create added value for the surrounding society in the form of, among other things, taxes paid, jobs and the ever-increasing competence of our staff.

Servica is an equal, fair and responsible workplace. Our culture and ways of working support the diversification of our working communities. We want our employees to feel that everyone can progress in their career regardless of their personal background and characteristics. We are actively working to strengthen our employees’ skills to meet the demands of the future working life. In the future, we will train people for different roles and responsibilities at our own Academy.

We are developing our safety culture and competencies in a planned manner and launched a safety management system in 2023. The aim of our safety management is to encourage and motivate people to make safe choices in their work.

Servica plays a key role in ensuring the functionality of society’s service chains. We develop reliable and sustainable infrastructure to support economic development and human well-being. We maintain the service reliability of society, ensuring that customers and owners can operate even in crisis situations, and our aim is to design service reliability for all services.

Our central warehousing services are responsible for societally critical infrastructure, handling and storage of healthcare products. Servica’s central warehouse also maintains a back-up stock of care supplies for use in the Eastern Finland cooperation area. Our employment impact is broad and promotes both regional vitality and employment. Our investments will also help us build a sustainable society and, in the future, our investment solutions will focus on areas such as sustainable and advanced equipment and food technologies, process development and information systems.
